Education and Training

Through our network of organizations and their work, we seek to lift people up and have an impact in their lives.

We work with our network to help meet current, pressing needs in our community and strive to offer education and training to help support courageous actions and propose innovative solutions.

In the past year, we’ve hosted a two-day conference on social entrepreneurship, media and journalism training for members within our network, countless mindfulness workshops and participated in Indigenous Cultural Safety training.

We are always looking for new opportunities to learn and grow, to continue to live our values and fight for social justice.

Mindfulness and Compassion

Research tells us that when we have the opportunity to develop compassion, empathy and kindness for ourselves and others, organizations and the people who work there thrive.

Our mindfulness trainings and workshops support people on their journey toward a deeper sense of purpose.

In Person Workshops

Please note, all in-person workshops are on hold due to COVID-19. We want to take all precautions to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being and look forward to

A full schedule of events is being created that will allow us to continue offering these workshops safely.

In these movement-based classes, attention will be paid to release muscle tension employing a specialized ball rolling technique. This practice has significant therapeutic benefit, releasing physical pain and discomfort, greatly improving flexibility, while developing strategies that can be practiced at home. These classes are ideal for health and social service practitioners with soreness and stiffness in their neck and shoulders, hamstrings, lower back, upper back, hips, hip flexors and feet. Balls are provided.

This restorative session is designed to introduce some basic mindfulness and self-care practices that can be used in everyday life. We will also explore how to respond when managing complex and demanding situations. Some we encounter include: scarcity of resources, time, and tools, stress that impacts work/life balance, burn out, self-judgement, and other common human experiences.

As with so many situations we navigate in our daily lives, change often begins from within. The day is designed to provide time to be present, release expectations and nurture our capacity to respond in all areas of our lives.

Cost: TBD

This 5-day residential retreat invites organizational leaders to fully explore the mindful leadership training we need to cultivate leadership excellence.

Returning to the picturesque shores of Lake Winnipeg in Hecla, Manitoba, the retreat invites leaders to train the mind just as an athlete leverages specialized training to train the body. In a small group setting, leaders are guided through a series of systematic mindful leadership practices, leadership excellence reflections, and everyday applications (e.g mindful meetings, skillful decision-making, leading by inspiration).

Free Mindful Self-Compassion Online Class from Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Chris Germer

With the surreal time we’re facing right now, here is a generous offering from Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Chris Germer, who have been researching self-compassion for over a decade: what it is, how it transforms our lives, and how to build it.

Through this link, you will have access to three free videos.

In the first of three videos, you will learn:

  • Why so many highly compassionate people are reluctant to turn their kindness inward.
  • How self-compassion makes us more motivated and resilient than self-criticism.
  • A guided meditation for when we’re feeling anxious or inadequate—especially if conventional mindfulness or breathing practices aren’t working … and more

Please feel free to share this with anyone who may find it useful.
